Jamis bicycles have been produced since 1979 when the firm came out with its "Earth Cruiser". From that beach cruiser the line continually expanded. In 1983 Jamis moved into mountain bikes and in 1988 the first Jamis road bikes came out.

The company is owned by long-time bicycle importer and distributer G Joannou Cycle. Joannou Cycle was founded in 1937, making it one of the oldest bicycle firms in the country.

This bike is truly ready to go anywhere. Here's what Road.CC had to say about this bike: "It manages to balance just the right amount of speed on the road with just the right amount of load-carrying and all-surface capability, in a well-specced and good-looking package.

"The frame of the Aurora is Reynolds' touring-staple air-hardened 631 tubing, which is stronger that the standard Cromoly (520 in Reynolds parlance) that you often get at this kind of money. It's well made and well finished, with a matching Cromoly fork that sports a decent amount of rake promising a bit of compliance. Rack and mudguard mounts are all present and correct, as are low rider bosses on the forks."

The wheels use Mavic's renowned A719 trekking rims. Here's how Mavic describes them: "A 719 is the benchmark rim for the trekking and tour market (All Road). SUP welded, wide, UB Control machined braking surface, its endurance enables to accumulate kilometres in the roughest road conditions."
