Kona Bicycless

On this page: 54cm Kona Dew Drop tourer/commuter

Kona Bicycles was founded in 1988 as a mountain bike company and was the first mountain bike maker to produce a complete line of mountain bikes with sloping top tubes.

From its initial success, Kona (headquartered in Washington State, despite its Hawaiian-sounding name) has gone on from strength to strength. The company now has a full line of mountain, road (including specialty commuter bikes) and cyclo-cross bikes.

The Kona Dew Drop is a fun-riding, yet bomb-proof tourer/commuter. The TIG-Welded 7005 butted aluminum tubing is mated to a chromoly steel fork. This is a go-anywhere, almost do-anything bike that is still light enough to make for an enjoyable road/club ride. The big disc brakes are great for bringing a loaded bike to a quick halt.

It's mounted with Shimano Sora triple 8-speed shifters, a Shimano Deore rear derailleur and an FSA Vera crankset.

Those brakes are Avid BB7 discs mounted on Shimano Deore 36-hole hubs. This is sensible, serious, long-lasting equipment.

The fenders are included.
