M19" Merlin Titanium Echo MTB bike

On this page: 19" Merlin Titanium Echo MTB bicycle

Merlin Metalworks is famous both for being the first company to commercially produce fully titanium bicycle frames, and for the wonderful workmanship all of their products displayed.

The company was started in 1986 and their first item was a mountain bike frame. The company soon started building road frames as well.

The bikes were a hit. Even Greg LeMond rode Merlin frames (though they did not carry Merlin decals).

The company was purchased by shoe maker Saucony in 1998 and then in 2000 the American Bicycle group acquired the firm.

Merlin is currently owned by retailer Competitive Cyclist.

Merlin 19" Titanium Echo 16" MTB bicycle. Used. $2,000

16" seat tube, 20" top tube
Made from 3/2.5 titanium

We date this bike to about 1988-1999.

This frame uses Moots "YBB" rear elastomer suspension. The 1" suspension travel is perfect for smoothing out the bumps and keeping the tire on the ground, but doesn't sacrifice efficiency and climbing ability.
