By bicycle industry standards, Takagi was an ancient firm. It began making cranks in Japan in 1897. Some were produced under Takagi name, some were branded "Three Arrows".
Sometime in the mid-1980s Shimano acquired the firm, but continued for some time to produce both steel and alloy cranks for both road and BMX under the Takagi name.
We don't know when Shimano ceased production of Takagi-named products.
