- This is a first-generation Shimano 600 freewheel. We put its production in the late 1970s.
- This freewheel has twist-tooth cogs, so it should work with index systems.
- Shimano's part number was MF-6160
Being an early 600 freewheel, it uses a notched freewheel puller.

- The cog progression is: 13, 15, 18, 24, 28, 32.
- The Shimano MF-6208 Freewheel was introduced in 1986 as part of the arrival of "Shimano Index Shifting" (SIS) to the 600EX 6206-6207 Series. It consists of individual cogs with spacers which fit onto a splined freewheel body and are held in place by the threaded outer cog. Cogs are marked with the cog size and word "Index" (e.g. 24 Index) on their outer surfaces.
