Fiamme's origins cannot be dated precisely. We do know that after Mario Longhi patented the double-eyelet, hollow aluminum rim in 1934, he licensed it to both Fiamme and Mavic. Fiamme began offering this design in 1935.
Like so many European companies hit by Japanese competition, sometime in the 1980s Fiamme went out of business and all of its assets were purchased by FIR.
Fiamme also made aluminum bas and stems.
