- The Sanshin Matsumoto factory was very busy in the 1970s and 1980s producing a wide range of high-quality hubs for the Japanese bicycle industry. The firm produced excellent hubs for entry-level bikes as well as superb professional quality hubs.
- The firm sold their production under the "Sanshin", "Sansin" and "Sunshine" brands. All three brands are posted on this page.
- Sanshin also made SunTour Superbe hubs for SunTour.

- This wheel is built cross-four pattern with stainless steel spokes.
- This wheel weighs 900 grams.
- Production of Mavic Module E rims started in 1975. The rims were developed in partnership with Michelin who needed a hook-beaded rim to secure their new high-pressure Elan tires from blowing off the rim.
- Module E rims had another advantage. Because they were only 20mm wide, a rider could switch out his sew-up wheels with Module E (often called "Mod E") wheels without readjusting his brakes. Ths was all new stuff in 1975.
