Essegi wool-blend short-sleeve jerseys on this page: Size 3 green | Size 3 red/white/blue | Medium blue/white
Essegi was a small, artisan clothing maker in the town of Sesto San Giovanni, just northeast of Milan. The shop was surprisingly vertically integrated. Thread would come in one door, be knitted into fabric on the shop's knitting machines and then cut and sewn into beautiful wool jerseys that would go out the other door. That manufacturing model changed as modern synthetic fabrics took over.
Essegi wool-blend size 3 green short sleeve cycling jersey. Lightly used, $200.00
- 80% wool, 20% acrylic
- Made in Italy
- We believe this jersey was made in the late 1970s or very early 1980s
When laid flat the jersey measures:
A: 17 inches (43cm) across the chest measured from arm pit to arm pit
B: 27.5 inches (69.5cm) length measured from the center of the back neckline to the bottom edge.

The tri-colored band has no seams, the colors were knitted together. There are however, seams where the band is sewn into the jersey.

And from the back. Classic Italian and beautiful.
Essegi wool-blend size 3 red/white/blue short sleeve jersey. Used, $120.00
This was a favorite jersey of the former owner of Torelli Imports and the labels have been washed so much that they are no longer readable. It has the same wool feel of our other Essegi jerseys, so we assume it is 80% wool and 20% acrylic.
The size label is unreadable, but knowing the rider, it is a size three (medium).

Essegi wool-blend medium blue/white short sleeve cycling jersey. New, $100.00
- 80% wool, 20% acrylic
- Made in Italy
- This jersey has neither a size nor a maker's label. It is roughly a medium-sized jersey and has the look and feel of clothing made by Essegi. But it could have been produced by any of the small Italian artisan workshops busy in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
- We believe this jersey was made in the late 1970s or very early 1980s.
