Jamis bicycles have been produced since 1979 when the firm came out with its "Earth Cruiser". From that beach cruiser the line continually expanded. In 1983 Jamis moved into mountain bikes and in 1988 the first Jamis road bikes came out.
The company is owned by long-time bicycle importer and distributer G Joannou Cycle. Joannou Cycle was founded in 1937, making it one of the oldest bicycle firms in the country.
