Mafac French-Dimension Headset Brake Housing Stop
We believe, but not to a metaphysical certainty, that these were made by Mafac.
French-dimensioned steering tubes have two important differences from English & Italian dimensioned steering tubes. For these reasons, these front brake cable housing stops will only work on French-dimensioned forks.
- They are a smaller diameter. French steering tubes are 25mm x 1.0mm (.984" x 25.4 tpi), English are 1" x 24 tpi
- Most British threaded steering tubes have a groove for a notched lock washer while it is most common for French steering tubes to have a flat filed on the steering tube for the lock washer.
